Task

Human Resources make up a vast professional field with many international leading minds and practitioners. For this reason, it can be challenging to organise an event that includes as many of these leaders as possible, while also making it accessible to a global audience of industry professionals.

Solution

This issue can be resolved by planning a digital event in addition to a traditional on-location fair. In May 2018, the first bi-annual CHRO Virtual Summit was organised as a collaboration between The HR Congress and meetyoo on their digital event platform. This format made it possible for The HR Congress to reach their goal of offering large-scale virtual fairs to industry experts, thereby extending their annual fair in Brussels. This innovative approach enabled over 5.000 participants to sign up for the free online event.The program included 12 speakers from 6 different time zones, who were able to connect with a large international audience via webcasts which were transmitted to a virtual auditorium. Live chats made it possible for participants to get in touch with the presenters and to discuss the points raised. 

Result

In total, the virtual fair presented over 8 hours of insightful keynotes about the most recent developments and trends in the HR industry. The audience itself included participants from over 100 different countries. It allowed an international audience to connect and attend an event with global HR experts regardless of their location and time zone. And what is more, the circumvention of business trips offered by a virtual event of this scale also prevented the carbon emissions that would accompany those travel needs. Additionally, the registration costs are lower than those of a similarly sized offline event. This is a perfect example of a case in which a successful on-location fair profits from holding bi-annual virtual fairs, thus increasing its reach and audience loyalty.
